In a fierce ice age where the only humans are a small society that have been pushed to the brink of extinction by a sinister God called the Wild and his wicked creatures, adventure and danger wait. He's spread famine and frost across the world, and the humans' God, Order, can no longer keep his brother back. And there is only one girl who can to change all that. The Gods each choose their own champion to lead their societies. So when it is revealed that she is the champion of Fate, a very different God than her own, Order, Ilah finds herself on the edge of an adventure that will either end with the salvation of all humanity... Or her having died trying. Fate is now again a God of humans and with this knowledge, the new Champion ventures forth at Fate's command on a quest to slay the Wild, the enemy of her people. The humans take this sudden Championship to mean that Fate is now on their side, but they'll soon find that this is not so... That hope, the one thing keeping them fighting for survival, runs out quickly. However, will it run out before Ilah accomplishes her task?
