16-year-old Natalie Pierce, is factionless. She was born factionless. She grew up on the streets with her mother who raised her as well as she could. When she finds out that her mother is not her birthmother, she sets out to find who is. With only a picture to guide her, she goes on a journey through all the factions looking for the woman in the picture.
