No matter how far you run, reality is always one step ahead. Jack has been dreaming all his life of the magic fabled to exist in the Eastern Mountains. When his family dies, what other choice does he have besides to cut all earthly ties and take flight? He has no one. No one, that is, except Skai, a matter-of-fact city dweller, and orphan in her own right. Together they flee the known world and its dangers, only to find that their escape from reality wasn't as complete as they'd thought. I'm deeply intrigued by the way words can fit together to create meaningful and surprising connections. Over and over again, I write a line of poetry (which seems usual enough), think for a moment, and then, one word at a time, pen a line that (thankfully) both surprises delights me. That brings a new point of view to to an old phenomenon, new direction to an old idea/theme, or just takes me places I hadn't envisioned before.
