In which there is a debate between an optimist and a pessimist. If you don't know what either means, don't be embarrassed. An optimist always thinks that the world is full of hope. The pessimist will just shake his head and say, "Nope". So do you think it's right to believe everything is great every day? Or see that everything is more worse than the next in every single way? Ms. Heart is a rich girl, with a poor heart. She was forever scared of love, not knowing the dangers it will do to her heart. But she also knew she would die without seeing the world. Mr. Art whole life surrounds art. He could paint, sketch, draw with eyes closed, and sold his art with no complaint. But one day he suddenly couldn't draw at all, it was as if he lost his skill of art. The two of them traveled to Paris, one seeing it as "The City of Love", the other as "The City of Lights." And when they both meet, they spend their time together in the most romantic place in the world. But when things begin to fall apart, both of them will need to find what their looking for. But is what their looking for what they wanted from the start or each other?

Her beauty is far beyond anything you'll ever gaze upon, her singing voice is as beautiful and alluring as the Sirens of Greek Mythology. And her amazing power to control music with a flick of her wrist that can make even the most strongest of opponents go down on their knees. Anyone with a bounty on their head, you must be warned. When you see a lovely girl, wearing a mask revealing only her beautiful green eyes and has a tail of fur that scurries around her shoulders that seems to belong to a small animal. Run. Run at first sight and never look back.

Fate is weird thing that binds everyone, everything together. It comes in many names destiny, the divine will, and even luck. Colton Jacobs doesn't think fate is pretty kind to him. He's the outcast in his school, the geeky weirdo who is invisible to everyone. And some days he prefer it like this, and sometimes he doesn't. Queen Ailani had always dreaded the day her island will be mercilessly devoured by the Nation and her people will succumb to the rule of their own leader. But when it was too late, they had already obtained a strong grip around the island and were slowly suffocating it more and more with each passing day. Now she looks at the constitution in front of her with a pen in her hand and a gun pointed at her head. For years she was forced to watch as these foreigners slowly took over her land and her people. Her own people are divided from loyalty to their nation and their Queen or to the illusion of wealth and power of the Nation. Armed with the dangerous combination of greed and impatience, the foreigners staged a coup throughout her island. She stands at a crossroads: sign away her island or her life. This story is inspired by Queen Liliuokalani, the last reigning monarch of Hawaii, who stood against the rising world power of America to protect her sacred lands and beloved people. - Wattpad selected me to be part of a campaign on behalf of Hulu for Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaids Tale". From its sole focus on feminism and women empowerment, I was inspired to create a story from such values. In a time when women are still undermined, the world needs a flood of more literature to spread this. So I'm honored to be part of this opportunity to contribute my writing to the feminist movement.

Rights and responsibilities is the 2014 theme of National History Day Contest, a broad topic. And I chose to write a just as broad topic of human rights. What are human rights? Is it to prove we're human? Prove that we're humans are right? Or to tell us apart from aliens? Though, now that I think of it, all extraterrestrial beings should have rights as well, but let's just have the Men in Black deal with that- But before getting off of topic, let's focus back on this. As you read about this, think about these questions (not the alien one, unless you want to). Think about what it takes to not only be human, to act like one too. And after you read this, think to yourself. Do you have the right to be human? This essay won first place for the 2014 National History Day essay contest in California.
