It has been exactly fifteen years since the birth of baby Finn. He is alive and well, living happily with his new adoptive brother, Jake the dog. But it is my unfortunate duty to tell you that for Marceline's family, things aren't going so well. The war is still raging and people are dying every day at massive rates. Now it's dangerous for them to just go outside for their basic necessities without being shot at. And to make things worse, Simon has grown ill again. With the magical crown preserving his life now gone, his true age seems to be catching up with him. Marceline knows his time is growing short and there is little anyone can do this time. Now there's really only one thing left they can do. Bring in Finn the human early to meet his true family before it's too late for Simon, and finally leave the ruins for good. But again, it won't be that easy. The people of Ooo have heard stories about the ruins. They think the people who live there are savages. Dangerous even. Marcy and her family are now unwelcome guests in the Candy Kingdom, surrounded by hostility and contempt. Will they choose to stay for the sake of Simon's last legacy? Or will they leave for a place that actually feels like home again?

Marceline has only two goals to fulfill if it takes the rest of her immortal life: to find away to save her best friend in the whole world Simon Petrikov from loosing his memory completely and to hunt down and kill the vampire by the name of Marshal Lee that bit her and took everything away from her that she knew and love. But when she finally finds him and spares him, Marceline finds herself falling for the vampire on her quest to save Simon. Will she open up and finally learn to love again? Or will she shut him out? Read to find out. Sorry this is kind of a dumb summary, the story is much better. Also, this is an Adventure Time fanfic but you don't have to know what that is to like the book.
