(This is the brother story to 'A life worth living'). This is a cross-over fanfiction combining the Harry Potter and Twilight worlds. Edward and Severus meet on the night of Lily Potter's death in 1981. They meet again fourteen years later, in unusual though perhaps fated circumstances. They, together with Albus, and the rest of the Cullens (including Bella, Jacob and Renesmee) work side by side to bring about the death of Lord Voldemort. Where possible, this story is canon compatible (to both worlds). NOT slash. Takes place during Harry's fifth to seventh year at Hogwarts but told from Severus' perspective as he attempts to fulfill his many roles as spy with the Cullens in the mix. How will these three years differ to canon with the Cullens' assistance? Please note that this is a work in progress. Please enjoy :)

"When I was born I was so small I was mistaken for a french fry. I was never an ordinary child. My best friend was a seagull. I was also illegal. Artificially intelligent people like me had been banned ever since that thing with the Twelve Elevens. Mother raised me for profit. Buyers and sellers had other plans for me, but then I grew a mind of my own. This is the story of how my brain ended up inside this box." Candles is a black-market, "artificially intelligent person" (or A.I.P., or "ape" in the colloquial sense, as in 'the planet of the'), an organic being, farm-raised on genetically engineered smoothies and destined for auction to the highest bidding criminal enterprise. Gifted with the ability to communicate with foul-mouthed seagulls and ill-tempered felines, this gender-less, age-less, race-less creature has to find its way to escape from the clutches of its mother and other assorted enemies, in this fairly exciting and ultimately utterly unexpected story.

Robin and Lindsay are both completely average teenagers, or at least until a car accident kills Lindsay. She wakes up a few days later… In Robin’s body. However, the amount of energy it would take to keep another mind alive in a single brain is incredible. Experts suspect Robin might even be a god. In an attempt to fix what has happened to them, Robin and Lindsay accept a full ride scholarship to one of the few parahuman colleges in the country qualified to teach potential gods, the California University of Supernatural Abilities. There, the two best friends meet other students like themselves, whose powers greatly outstrip the average parahuman. For every few hundred humans born completely normal, there are those born gifted. Most of those with abilities are just average people who can do something amazing, but there are a few parahumans whose ability transcends all others. Known as gods, these individuals can manipulate vast amounts of energy to their will, even bending the laws of the universe itself. The average parahuman simply exists alongside humanity; a god can reach far beyond it.
