Because everyone knows that the higher the power, the higher the price.
They're considered part of the Elite, just humans with unique powers who live moderately normal lives despite how un-normal their powers are.
They don't fight crime. They don't rule the world. They lay low and keep it together.
Recently, Leander and Felix have been having a cruddy time keeping it together.
Leander has the rare ability of clairvoyance, but for some... remarkably insightful reasons, he really wishes he didn't.
Felix is a telepath, to put it broadly, and he's been taking a three-year long guilt trip, minus the rest stops and the suspicious gas stations.
Together, they have an advantage, because they're best friends and they have each others' backs. Until things start going wrong and the list gets longer, one by one.
They're being tailed... by the other Elite?
Leander's price just keeps growing- How in heck is Felix supposed to stop it?
How exactly do two twenty-one-year-olds manage a hydrokinetic kindergartner?
And, oh yeah, does Felix really think he can just continue that guilt-trip, whatever it is he's been guilt-tripping about?
Things just get worse from there.
And the two start to think that maybe... they're just paying the price.
