This is the north proper, the very knife edge of civilization. Here monsters stalk the night and outlaws gather. It is a land of singular wonders and crushing horror... All Blacknail the goblin ever wanted was to live a peaceful life in his sewer home, and eat as much as he could shove in his mouth when no one was looking. He certainly never asked to be captured and whisked away to the far off Iron Teeth Mountains. Among the monster filled forests and snow peaked mountains of the North he will grow into something far more than a simple goblin. As the world around him slides into ruin Blacknail will fight to survive, and learn to live with the men and women of the North. However, first he has to get over his crippling fear of trees, and survive in a place where everything considers him to be the perfect size for a quick snack... Worm is a teenaged goblin who lives in the underground city of Gobo Haven. As the last child of a flock of seven children, Worm always gets the short end of the stick. It's even worse because she is a girl, who is smaller and weaker than her older brothers, so she gets constantly picked on and abused by them. If this was not bad enough , Goblinmother hates her and takes every opportunity to make Worm know how much she is not wanted and that she truly was the " worst Goblin ever born". As if this was not enough to endure, Worm has always been different from the other goblins. She has been described as" freakishly tall" and her skin is not the same colour as the other goblins. To everyone in the village, Worm is an unwanted freak of nature. Her only friend in the whole world is her cousin Dinka, whose friendship gives her life meaning. Worm has never known what true happiness feels like, and had resigned to the idea that nothing would ever change, until one day when she makes a curious discovery at the watering hole.Among the reeds, and floating weeds, she finds the limp body of a mysterious stranger. Who is this stranger? If he isn't a goblin, then what is he?Where did he come from? And how is it he shares the same freakish features as Worm? Forget all you ever thought you knew about goblins and delve into the underground world of Gobo Haven. Join Worm and Dinka in an action packed adventure in finding out who this mysterious stranger is, and how Worm's life will change forever.
