Science Fiction is that genre that is full of mystifying, magical, sometimes terrifying stories. It allows you to enter a new world, one which is almost unrecognizable to the one you live in. We all know which books have encaptured our imagination but how can you, as a writer, deliver the same standard of SciFi writing? If you break out in a cold sweat at the very idea of writing SciFi but really want to, I'm the girl for you. Welcome to the weird and wondeful world of SciFi writing?

"Science fiction writers foresee the inevitable, and although problems and catastrophes may be inevitable, solutions are not." - Isaac Asimov This piece is intended as a bit of a Help guide, a point of reference and hopefully something people will enjoy, as ultimately all of you will have different experiences reading and writing science fiction, and writing in general. If nothing else, I hope it inspires you to try your hand at writing Science Fiction if you haven't already.

Hi! Karen Akins here. I'm the author of LOOP (out now with St. Martin's Press) and its sequel TWIST (3/31/15). When I was revising LOOP, as a character exercise, I wrote a scene that took place between the two stories from Finn's point-of-view. I put it in a drawer and forgot about it until Future Karen (or Past Karen?) discovered it a few weeks ago. SHIFT takes place between LOOP and TWIST, so it does contain some information from LOOP, but no major spoilers! I'll be posting the first few chapters of LOOP so check back soon (and often)--you don't want to miss a thing. :) Finn Masterson has been dating time traveler Bree Bennis for three years...or three days, depending on who you ask and when you ask. But there's one thing he knows without a doubt. His life is never going to be the same--or dull--with Bree in it. In the past, present, or future. Don't forget, you can pre-order TWIST now . . . Le monde des humains a un jour été beau. Un autre, il avait perdu ses couleurs. Pourtant dans la nuit liant les deux histoires, en remuant les planètes, on pouvait encore trouver des étoiles. = Court Préquelle à Under Control =
