While the Straw Hat's are at sea, they encounter other pirates fighting over a rare treasure. Without knowing a pirate was gonna hit Zoro and Sanji, Luffy jumps in front of both, while not knowing something terrible was going to happen.

Abused!Scared!LuffyxZoro. As much as Luffy wants his alliance to work for him, after he served his purpose Law decides he needs an incentive to stay with Luffy's crew. It just so happens that Luffy can be the perfect candidate for his experiments.

This is a reader insert (unless labeled otherwise) One Piece one shot book. Hopefully I'll actually remember and have the motivation to write stories...
