This collection contains my contributions to a unique and fun collaborative challenge designed by @silenttomorrows entitled The Box that just recently finished. The challenge was to write a chapter based on three items left in the box by the previous author. I recommend a visit to The Box to enjoy ALL the posted chapters. silenttomorrows, @naomimrshl and I tackled the challenge by choosing objects for the box that would stump the next person in line and the results were often funny, clever and even poignant.

The surprise letter from a cousin advising Nick Roth he had inherited $1200 from an uncle he had barely known, was a windfall for his sagging detective agency business, which had suffered during the war years. The additional news that the cousin suspected a cover-up of the death only added fuel to Nick's enthusiastic curiosity.
