Ludwig is an attractive eighteen year old man who is in love with someone he could never have. He is in love with a lumberjack, Ivan Braginski, but his mother has arranged for him to marry the wealthy, and quite attractive, Elizabetha Héderváry. Terrified of losing eachother, and having to be with a woman, Ludwig and Ivan are planning to run away together when they learn that someone very close to Ludwig has been killed by the werewolf that that terrorises the villages around them. Wanting their vengeance, the people call on a famous werewolf hunter, Father Francis, to help them kill the wolf. But Francis' arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. As the death toll rises with each moon, Ludwig begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone he loves. Panic grips the town as Ludwig discovers that he has a unique connection to the beast, making him both hated...and bait.
