Sang's father walked out on them less than a year after they moved to Charleston and she is left with her irresponsible older sister and mentally unstable mother. It's not easy to find a job when your a high school drop out, are technically a minor and don't have any valid identification. She often has to resort to pickpocketing to make ends meet. What will happen when this catches the attention of the Academy and the Toma Team are brought in to handle it. The story is meant to examine what it would be like if Sang was the main character of the Scarab Beetle series, both the Scarab Beetle and Ghost Bird series belong to C. L. Stone.
