For @ScienceFiction 's Anniversary Challenge, we had to produce a 10K story. PROMPT: 'Inhabitants of Earth must take to the stars in order for the human race to survive. To remain would involve certain extinction. Where they go, what they encounter on the way, who and what they find at their destination is entirely up to you!' For this one I took a nostalgic approach, and went with some World War II alternate history! Ultimately, I tried to pay homage to one of Science Fiction's greats, Phillip K. Dick. That scientist now goes by the name of Santa, and every year on December 25, he travels the world, stopping at key locations around the world to deliver medication that keep the effects of radiation poisoning at bay. How do Captain Santa and his loyal first officer Rudolph brave the many dangers of the unforgiving irradiated winter of earth to provide the life-saving medication that so many need?
