One of the winners of the OnceUponNow contest! Of Sirens and Beasts will be published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster on October 11th in the Once Upon Now Anthology! Football uniforms and tutus do not make a pretty picture. That is what Cal's football team, the Beasts, strongly believe. So when their coach randomly decides twelve of them will be taught ballet by a group of twelve sisters, they aren't planning to take any of it seriously. But after waking up in the mornings and not remembering anything of the ballet classes the night before and with the number of football players seeming to shrink, will Cal catch on to the twelve deadly dancing beauties' game before he himself falls into their captivating song of death? Jess Knight likes her freedom. Despite being in jail for about sixty-five percent of her teenage life, she is in complete control. But there's only one problem: she doesn't know her purpose. One day, everything changes. Her reputation as the youngest and most connected solo street criminal gets her noticed by the illustrious crime society known as the Maryland Mafia, who offer her the deal she literally can't refuse. That same day, Jess is arrested by a junior officer at the downtown precinct. Something about Nick Bronson transforms the way Jess sees the world and she can't let him go. But is dating a cop the wisest move for a teenage criminal about to commit the dirtiest crime there is? One thing's for sure; life as a jailbird isn't always as free as it seems. AUTHOR'S NOTE: This story is one I've been writing on and off between the Rouge series, and I wanted to share it with you guys. It's a bit rough and still not completely finished, but I felt guilty for delaying Consuming Fire. What's it really about? Think Veronica Mars and the PCH Bikers, only instead of following the law, Jess breaks it. Cover by Isabella Modra

BOOK 1 // Human Error (COMPLETE) BOOK 2 // Human Instinct (IN PROGRESS) *NOW OPTIONED FOR A TV SHOW* "Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness engineered right into their DNA." - William Shakespeare, 1602 (adapted for BioPlus) Astrid Oxford is not normal. Two hundred years into the future, society is recovering from global collapse, and genetic modification has saved the remaining population from a hunger crisis. The alteration of human DNA has been illegal since the technology was developed, but in the heart of New London, a sinister trend has emerged among society's elite. Designer children have been the city's best-kept secret for years, but strange side effects are now appearing as they hit adolescence. When a freak suicide forces modification into the public eye, eighteen-year-old Astrid is about to learn how difficult it is to stay under the radar when you really were born to stand out.
