My parents were divorced, and my mother had left us, which left me wondering how important love could be if it couldn't stop mom from leaving. And i thought he was someone I could love, but apparently I was wrong. I know better now. But I can't help but think that it was all for the best.

After her mother, her best friend, died. Astrid is being abused at home and bullied at school. The abuser is her dad and the bully is her so called friends.
