Zoe is a teenage girl convicted of a murder she didn't commit, but that doesn't matter in the Arena of Justice. You either win your fights, or you die. ***** Seventeen-year-old Zoe never expected to find herself on the wrong side of the law, but when she's convicted of a murder she didn't commit, she's sentenced to the Arena of Justice - the home of gladiator matches where murderers fight murderers, and every fight ends with a death. Zoe's plan for surviving is simple: ignore the other inmates and fly under the radar until it's time to fight, but that's easier said than done. As hard as she tries to hate those she must kill, Zoe soon befriends the other inmates and falls in love - a deadly proposition when a moment's hesitation can prove fatal. It's up to Zoe to save her life, no matter how hard the system is trying to kill her. [[word count: 50,000-60,000 words]]

Having grown up believing that the Devil is God, Avalon Kandor and the rest of the youth living in the city of Eden spend their teenage years in pursuit of the one thing that matters: the title of a Pure. Awarded upon the completion of their education, it is both expected and an extraordinary honour. But becoming one of the Pure isn't as easy as you would think. Twice a year, for every year they attend school, the youth of Eden have to sit the Test: an evaluation of their knowledge and belief in God. In the younger years, getting a few questions on the Test wrong is nothing of concern, but upon reaching high school things start getting dangerous. Make a single misstep and you could face Expulsion and life as an impure. Get a wrong answer on the Test and you'll be Removed - permanently. Avalon knows the risks that accompany disobedience - has experienced them first hand - but when she's told that her world is based on lies, she'll do anything to find out the truth. Even if the truth turns out to be worse than not knowing anything at all. © 2014 by shayebay This novel is entirely a work of fiction. Defeat Morgwyn was born into the last years of human life on Earth. On her fifth birthday, her parents, along with half the world's population, left Earth for Orbis - a planet in a distant solar system - handing her over to a huge government-run orphanage. By the time she was ten, the orphanage and a group known as the Correctors - the members of the world's government and military who were tasked with repairing the earth - were the only humans left on Earth. At the age of eighteen, Defeat is given a choice: get on the next ship to Orbis, or become the newest recruit of the Correctors. Unwilling to leave her one and only home, she chooses to stay, and is thrust into a military style world where school is about survival skills, self-defence, and what needs to be done to repair the Earth. But Defeat soon starts to realise that there's more to the Correctors than they're letting on, and when disaster strikes, she's faced with an impossible decision: abandon the people she's been trained to help, or embark on a terrifying mission to save them. "What was it like to witness the creation of the universe?" "Terrifying." When Atara, Merc, Cal and Lilith wake to darkness, they're each more than a little afraid. With no memory of who they were before, and with the universe bursting violently to life around them, they must work together to survive and to get home - wherever that may be. Because the longer they stay in this dark new world, the harder it is to do so. © 2015 by shayebay This novel is entirely a work of fiction. There's something wrong with Kiran's city. First it was Lower Sector - flickering street lights, the lighted windows going out one by one, like candles blown out by a slow, invisible breeze - and now Middle Society is starting to feel the effects of the Black Wave: the slow but steady darkness sweeping over the city. Kiran is all too aware of the way the street lights are dimming, of the way her bedroom light takes one, two, three tries to turn on. Her sister pretends not to notice it and her mother is content with letting the Black Wave take its course, but Kiran is worried. Already, whispered stories are spreading throughout her school, like an airborne disease that tells a tale of panic, fear and death in Lower Sector. So when she's approached by a mysterious man in black who tells her nothing but an address and a whispered, "fight for the light," her decision is an easy one. Because in Kiran's world, there are only two options: learn to live in the darkness, or fight to bring back the light. © 2015 by shayebay This novel is entirely a work of fiction. #1 in SF 28.03.2016 #4 in SF 21.02.2016 #3 in SF 24.02.2016
