Phil is an ordinary guy with an ordinary life. Nothing very special about him, he's just normal. But it all changes when, on the weirdest day of his life, he meets the very quiet and recluse, Dan Howell. He's different. Phil doesn't usually do different, but something about Dan makes him want to try it. But when he's pulled into a world he didn't even know existed, he doesn't know if his choice was such a smart one. Because, there's a reason Dan is different. And it might not be so good.

Living on the poor side of town, his family is struggling to make ends meet, and his personal issues do nothing but add fuel to the fire he has deep within him. Phil Lester has just moved to a new town where he is constantly reminded of how much he misses the way things used to be. His life seems to be going fine, a more than stable living situation and many opportunities for him. But his always happy and optimistic mood has become faker, and he is lost in his mind filled with confusion and nostalgia. When these two boys meet each other on the first day of their senior year, they might find what they never knew they needed in each other. Then a nice couple start to take interest in him, and it turns out they have a son his age, Daniel, but the love they begin to share isn't of a brotherly nature...
