Trying to out run the teen werewolf that is now chasing him through the woods, he loses his footing and trips, hitting his head hard on a fallen tree. Slipping into a coma that no one thinks he'll slip out of, Dean shocks them all by waking up, but what they didn't anticipate is what happens next. Dean comes to, but to complete complete darkness, and at first they tell him his sight is just gone temporarily due to the sheer amount of head trauma, but after three weeks they confirm that the sight loss is permanent , and Dean has gone blind. Done with it all, John drops off the boys at a house he bought in Salem Wyoming, and leaves them there for good. After all, Lucifer was 18 now, he could take care of the boys. Leaving them with just the clothes on their back, and their bags in the trunk, John takes off in a new car, leaving the Impala to Dean, and taking off to hunt after hunt, never returning. Lucifer grows to hate John, raising Dean and Sam as best as he could on his own, and even helping Dean learn braille. Dean can't forgive his father, even if he returns, he's the one that ruined his life after all. And after almost loosing Dean, Sam became closed off to everyone outside of his brothers, not wanting to become attached to anyone, afraid of loosing them. Sam is selectively mute, only talking to Dean and Luci, and helping dean around so he can hide the fact his eyes don't work. They go to a new school when fall hits, and the Winchester boys all sit together, until the meet the odd family of the town, the Novak's. Dean tries to hide that he is blind, and it almost works with Sam clinging to him 24/7, but one Novak in particular happens to pick up on his secret, and seeming to want to be around freckled green eyed boy all the time.
