Trevor Hanes is the Alpha of his pack. He has it all, money, good looks, an amazing body, and best of all, whatever female he wants in his bed. He shares his body, but never his heart. Been there, done that, and never doing it again. Like Harmony, his experience with his own mate was a painful one and has turned him into the closed off playboy that he's become. The term 'raised by wolves' has never been more accurate. As a baby I was found in the forest, inside the territory of the fearsome Alcaeus Aatu werewolf Clan; led by Jenna Knight. Her beta's, Ace and Hansel, adopted me and I couldn't have asked for better parents; the pack though, well, they left something to be desired. As the only human in a pack full of werewolves, I wasn't welcomed; I was the fat, human outcast. One day when rouges attacked I decided that I'd finally had enough. I left and never looked back, running to England to join the military after a life of being the weak link. After several years serving in the military, life throws me a curve ball and I soon find myself returning home after years away. *Third book in The Mate series. No you don't have to read the previous books.* Cover by IsaSecret.

"Everett" I called him when he paused in his tracks. I looked around and realized that we were right in the middle of a clearing. "Why did we stop here?" I enquired in bewilderment. Everett, who had his back to me, turned to face me. The hurt expression in his face didn't miss my notice even when he tried his best to conceal it from me, by giving me a small smile. "You know I love you right?" he asked me and I nodded happily. I knew my mate loves me and I love him too. He stepped forward, cupped my face in his hands and placed a light, feathery kiss on my forehead. "I'm doing this because I love you" he whispered, and then taking a step back, curled his fingers to form a tight fist. I stared at his fist and then glanced up to clash with his pacific blue eyes, "Doing what?" I prompted. Everett didn't bother replying; instead he shifted into his huge black wolf, compelling me to take a few steps back. 'Shift' he commanded through the link. I looked away not meeting his gaze because I didn't appreciate the way he commanded me. Nobody commands me. Nobody. 'I, Everett Green, Alpha of Waterwave Pack, am challenging you, Templar Green, White Wolf, for a fight'

"I don't want you to mark me" I said quickly. "Why?" he asked me, his tone seemed calm but i knew he was far from it. "I have a commitment towards my pack" I told him, hoping he'll understand but to my astonishment his eyes were dark now and he held his palms in a tight fist. "You are my mate Templar, you belong to my pack" he said in a condescending tone. My blood boiled at the tone he was using with me. Nobody talks to me like that. Nobody. "Do not use that tone with me, Everett. You are not my Alpha, I respond to-" none, i was about to say, but had to bite my tongue to change that. I was not ready to tell him that I'm the sole White Shifter, not ready to tell him I'm The Alpha of my pack. So i lied, again.
