Acting normal is not the same as being normal. No one knows that truth better than Suthe Montikwe. Born with the unlucky genes of a distant druith ancestor, she's had to hide her talents in order not to be outcast by society. Her strategy is to smile, keep quiet, and work hard. While that method may keep her safe, it's also alienated her from her neighbors and friends, and the worry that she may be discovered is never far from her thoughts. When her country sends out a warrant to capture anyone who practices magic, Suthe is forced to seek refuge elsewhere, all the while wondering at the sudden proclamation. Why has the government taken an interest in her, and when will she be able to return home? Unsatisfied with her lack of answers, Suthe decides to investigate. But the more she looks, the deeper she gets herself into trouble, and she comes to realize that this mystery does not involve her country alone. The threat of war looms on the horizon, and Suthe will need to put her trust in the strangers she meets, including a dangerous spy wanted for the betrayal of his own country. But most importantly, Suthe will need to trust herself, and her abilities, if she ever wants to see home again. ~*~Current cover by Amanda-Mae ~*~ ~*~Previous cover by italychick~*~

Whis was what the people of Fantasy called a Whisper, hence the name. She was born into slavery and never given a home. But on a slave/circus-route to Garden City she was contained with a mare who she found had an interesting spirit that had her thinking and doing things she'd never put across her mind before, and therefore, she made her plan of escape. All would have gone fine, Whis and the mare would have been miles away from Garden City, if one single man hadn't gotten in her way. Anakin Drennan, an insanely powerful man of Fantasy - in both magic and riches - had a hobby of saving a breed of creatures known as the Nyveari, so that their rare race didn't go extinct. The mare Whis planned to escape with, was one of those Nyveari, and just after Anakin saved the mare from her life of oppression, Whis showed up to try and save the day. Not all went according to plan, for either of the Fantasians. Whis was given her wish of freedom in Anakin's home, and Anakin gained a strange young girl as a companion. Follow Whis as she gains a new name for herself, friends among the most unlikely people and creatures, and a daughterly love for a man that has lost everything and yet asks for nothing. And if she happens to get rid of an evil lord in the process, so be it. This is not a romantic, but it is a story of love. This is a reminder from the author that anyone can be loved, be forgiven, be accepted, no matter who they are. Started: 08.19.16 Completed: 05.24.17

A MODERN MEDIEVAL FANTASY #3 in Fantasy |Book 1 of the Fifth Daughter Trilogy| When darkness arises and the world of Fantasy is in danger of being destroyed, the Dragon Riders are the first to show up. Fire and fang, sword and shaft, meet the enemy head on and the wars don't end until the enemy is disbanded. It's not a pretty business, but it must be done to secure the lives of every creature within Fantasy. There are two Rider schools - over thousands of Riders and dragons - and Smoke Green is one of them, no matter how much she dislikes the idea and the heights. Her fate has been chosen, even if she doesn't want it. With a vacant father, a mother who has too many secrets, four older sisters, an older brother, and a three minute older, annoying twin brother, Smoke isn't expected to be much more than a hometown girl of Folklore; who will get a boring desk job and never leave home. But then the Sage of the Burrows proclaims her a Dragon Rider and a Fifth Daughter and Smoke's life changes stories - literally. Moving from Folklore to Legend, Smoke is taught that fears can be conquered and villains do have a hunger for power. She also learns she might just have the power this villain is after. She makes friends: Something she didn't know she could do, she finds her dragon: Someone she didn't know even existed, and she learns her past: Something she didn't know was so complicated. But when rebellions begin to break out across the globe; the world of Fantasy is once again put in danger and the Dragon Riders might not be able to save their home this time around. Especially, when the enemy is from one of their own royal families; once thought incinerated, and his accomplice might just be Smoke's long thought dead father. In this first book of the Fifth Daughter Trilogy, J.J. wants you to forget everything you think you know of mythology and open your mind to a new kind of fantasy.
