Not an egg fertilizing mammal. Not a baby producing machine. Not a wife, girlfriend or sweetheart. Not a weaker section of the society. Breaking the bends, Smashing the norms, Dashing the walls, Burning the shackles, Flying the dreams, Roaring with thunder, Emerges a Woman. FOR HER....BY HER....TO HER!

I write about New York - and everywhere else. This is a selection of what I call my "little bus stories." I write on the New York City Mass Transit Authority - also known as the MTA, also known as the bus and the subway. My first collection of stories is available at the NY Transit Museum Store, and online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Create Space: "A Marshmallow on the Bus: A Collection of Stories Written on the MTA." My next collection will include many of these Wattpad stories, some new poetry, and, of course, my observation of daily life in the world's most exciting city - New York, New York. It's called "Prayer Beads on the Train: A Collection of Stories Written on the MTA," and it will be out this fall (2014). Thanks for reading my little bus stories! Look for updates and follow me - @nilesite. Anne Born

This is small group of poems and memories of and about life in the military. I chose the U.S.S.Midway to grace the cover of this selection. She was an integral weapon of war. She was also my home for two years. She is now a museum open to the public. Remember to thank our active duty military personnel and veterans if you enjoy your freedom in America. All gave some... Some gave all. Thank you for your support.

Children shouldn't have to play with IV lines attached to the back of their hands. But they do. Cancer made it so. Here are some stories of some of those brave kids I have met in some of those playrooms. To be honest I never wanted to able to tell these stories. I didn't want to have a reason to go into those rooms. But, as bad luck would have it, I will visit these rooms on and off for a while with my grandson Andre. There is sadness here, but there is also so much hope.

TB&ME is a collaborative blogging project by patients being treated for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) in locations all around the world by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). They are writing about their experiences of living with MDR-TB and the treatment that they receive. This treatment can often involve taking upwards of 20 pills a day for 24 months and suffering many painful side effects from the toxic drugs. TB&ME has been launched because MDR-TB is a neglected disease. Very little money has been put into the research and development of diagnostics or new, improved treatment and people who are infected by the disease have no option but to take drugs which are painful and leave them feeling weak every day for a very long time. TB&ME gives MDR-TB patients an opportunity to tell the world about the issues which affect their lives, about how treatment and services could be improved and how it feels to have this disease. It also provides an opportunity for patients to tell the world that MDR-TB exists in their own words, that it is a global problem and to share their experiences with others who might be in the same position.

More than 60 million people are currently fleeing conflict or persecution around the world. Due to their race, religion or nationality, these people's homes are no longer safe places to live and their governments no longer provide them with protection. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) works around the world to provide refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) with everything they need from psychological care to lifesaving nutrition. We set up hospitals in refugee camps, we help women give birth safely, we vaccinate children to prevent epidemics and we provide access to safe drinking water. Here, some of our teams share their stories.
