Everyone is the hero of their own story. Huwcyn Dunslade, the most famous and brutal dragonslayer in Auland, is no exception. Conscripted to fight a battle that isn't his, the young commander must travel north to defend the border alongside dragons and their "Fliers". As the war drags on over the years, his relationship with a haughty noblewoman named Siana develops and Huwcyn must decide what lengths he will go to to defend his family from the monsters of the mountains.
