[Boyxboy, LGBT fiction] One-Shot : A literary work usually between 100 to 5,000 words, with no chapters or sequels. Is generally used as a synonym of 'short story'. Some people attribute the word to meaning the story is a fanfiction, but that would be a One-Shot fanfic, not a One-Shot. In simple terms, a one-shot is a short piece, whether it be a single photo or a single story, that sticks to one subject and has no chapters, no volumes and no sequels. (I'd like to point out now that even though it says above that a One-Shot doesn't have sequels or other chapters, that doesn't mean certain stories of mine won't become standalone novels or series' in the future.
