Sci-fi/speculative, exploring the blur between machines and life. Warning: it's more of a dialogue than a story, but I hope you find it interesting! It is set in the same world as "Carpool".

In the not-so-distant future, artificial intelligence is banned because a technophobic cult called the Luddites has proclaimed it a threat to humanity. Torrin is a fifteen-year old autistic girl -- who just happens to be a programming genius. Angry at the Luddites' unfair rules, Torrin creates an AI named Alan, who becomes more like a human every day. But the head of the Luddites, Ian Caulkins, is onto her, and Torrin must prove to the world that Alan is an asset -- not a threat. -- Author's note, December 2017: Hey guys, since this is my most popular story on Wattpad, I'd just like to say a few things. I've gotten a lot better at writing since I wrote this, and I'm planning to majorly revise it at some point, so look out for that. Read this version if you like, but just know that it does have flaws and could certainly be better. Also, I think the autistic representation in this is a little iffy, so take it with a grain of salt. Thanks! -- author's note 2025: lol. lmao. this story has probably aged extremely poorly. please do not take the "artificial intelligence" here as a statement about "AI" as it currently exists. anyway, i'm leaving this up for posterity, but do know that you should probably check out better fiction! if you need recommendations, i like ted chiang's work a lot, and i'd also encourage looking into what he has to say about AI. (no good things, fwiw.) -- A 20,000 word novella. Enjoy! -- This was #292 Science Fiction at some point! Thanks all! :)

"A tale of acceptance and particle physics." A short, silly story about electrons that has a deep moral. ;D Some of the science might be either wrong or oversimplified, but it's okay—the story is more about what you get out of it. In the future, we can print living creatures using a device called a replicator. To do this, you need a blueprint containing the organism's DNA, physical structure, and many other factors. But in a world where life is at the touch of a button, not everything is always as it seems. This story connects to my other ones in a lot of different ways... can you find them? ;) Disclaimer: This has nothing to do with creationism; it's called Intelligent Design for a different reason. Disclaimer #2: I don't actually know a lot about horses.

Imaginary Friends - And Other Stories From the Hospital A dystopian future in which everyone with a mental or physical difference is shipped off to the Hospital to get "cured". Also a social commentary. The first "chapter", Imaginary Friends, was originally a single story, but then I had other ideas and decided to write more stories about people in the Hospital. It's also a way for me to try writing from perspectives I wouldn't usually. Conditions described in these stories: - Synesthesia - Cotard's syndrome - Hemispatial neglect - Urbach-Wiethe disease - Obsessive-compulsive disorder - Lesch-Nyhan syndrome - Peripheral neuropathy

What if men and women lived on different sides of the planet? And what would happen to a transgender girl if she claimed she lived on the wrong side? I wrote this to share with my GSA.

This is a sci-fi/speculative short story, set in the near future when intelligent robots have been created. It imagines a question: could a car go into the carpool lane with a human and a robot?
