And when a real-life Jaeger - Scarlet Hazard - is brought in for the Rangers-in-training to experience and possibly pilot, Emery and Chuck are first in line. But something goes wrong when they are in the Jaeger, Emery starts seizing and falls into a coma while Chuck remains unharmed. Five years later, Emery remains comatose. The doctors receive permission to cut off her life support, against Chuck's will, but a week before it is scheduled to happen, Emery mysteriously wakes up. But with Kaiju attacks increasing in frequency, a Kaiju support terrorist group rising in popularity and an old pilot back on the scene, will Emery be able to survive in a world so different from the one she once knew?
