started: 11/10/17 status: on hold ❁ ❁ ❁ Ren laughed quietly as he pulled me in for a hug, his strong arms almost suffocating me. His scent of pine and vanilla occupied my senses as I leaned into him. "Naveen will explain everything to you," he loosened his embrace before adding, "Promise me you'll be okay?" I nodded meekly, and drew an 'x' across my heart with my finger. Ren furrowed his brow. "What are you doing?" I giggled. "Crossing my heart." He stared at me, still looking confused. "It's like a promise," I explained. "Have you never heard of that before?" He shook his head. "Why wouldn't you just say 'I promise'?" His confusion only made me laugh more.

He wanted to go and find the answers he needed but he had to stay and protect the town his parents left in his care. Ten years pass since that night. An all too familiar face reappears. This time, the owner of those strange eyes is after him. Shay barely escapes with his life and leaves the town of Peach to try and protect the townspeople from more deaths. He later finds himself being attacked by two men after a dagger given to him by his parents before they died. After winning against their attack, they tell him a secret he never knew existed: his parents were part of the Royal Guard and not just any guards. They were specifically chosen by the Emperor himself to protect him. The unruly men also tell him where he can learn more information. A veteran guard lives in the city of Honeydew. The man could tell him all he wanted to know. Shay is drawn to follow the lead. He arrives in Honeydew but his original plan is crushed when he is hired by the veteran to hunt down a group that wanted to assassinate the Emperor. An assassin after an assassin according to the veteran. The new path causes a battle in Shay's heart. Can he really kill someone to protect another? Could he even kill the murderer he was originally after?
