[Post - morte di Alec] Magnus Bane sedeva al bancone dello Space Trash, lo sguardo fisso sul rivolo d'acqua che trasportava avanti e indietro i drink e i diversi aperitivi. Tracannò un altro sorso del suo Mars Territory, poi si voltò verso la pista da ballo illuminata da luci alimentate ad energia solare. Tra centinaia di altri corpi, uno in particolare attirò la sua attenzione. Era un ragazzo moro, alto e magrissimo. La maglietta nera in tessuto tecnico gli aderiva al corpo, mostrando costole e cresta iliaca sporgenti. Se ne stava in un angolino, da solo; si stringeva il busto con le mani e dondolava lentamente sui talloni. Lo stomaco di Magnus ebbe un sobbalzo, e il cuore gli saltò un battito. Per un momento, un breve ma angosciante momento, aveva pensato che fosse Alec.
