Heimat: a place that you can call home; a sense of belongingness, acceptance, safety and connection to homeland A decade has passed after the final battle between the Avatar and the Fire Nation, a decade after the defeat of their Fire Lord. It is a time of prosperity for most, but the crimes commited during the war couldn't be reversed. Benders were taken away from their families, people were slaughtered, their belongings, homes and land taken away. This, had been the instance when it came to the northwest part of the Earth Kingdom, that had went on to become the Fire Nation colonies. The people of the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom lived on in the land that was given to them and gradually, they became one. They collaborated and cooperated in order to live and so they got richer, learnt to depend on each other for their survival. By the end of the war, the people, even though they came from different backgrounds, were one. A decade after the end of the war, the Avatar is commanded to solve the matter of whether the former Fire Nation citizens need to move or not. Aang believes the nations need to be separated. The people in the colonies do not, hatred starts to grow in their hearts. The Avarar will need the help of a companion more than any other time, and there is no better person to aid him than the secret waterbender that's part of the Fire Nation fleet, the woman who risked her own life to get him to safety, even though this had been the first time they had met in their lives. Long ago, the four Nations lived together in harmony. Then the Fire Nation attacked. The world was about to change forever and for the airbenders, there would be no coming back. A hundred years after the war, all airbenders save for the Avatar are thought to be dead. But in one of the numerous cells of the Boiling Rock a young airbender named Jaya resides, keeping her identity a secret from all. A thief, a killer. A failure of an airbender. Fate plays a curious game, though, and even the most worthless of people may come to have a second chance. Part one of The Mórrigan's Wolf series, a The Last Kingdom Fanfic Series. Featuring Finan and a female OC Faoladhean is part of one of the last groups of traditional Picts who are struggling to maintain their autonomy as other kings rise and fall in the aim of creating a unified Alba (Scotland). After her traveling group is ambushed by Danes, Faoladhean is taken captive and brought to Northumbria to be given to a Danish earl. Determined to escape and return home to honor the oath she swore to protect her family, Faoladhean must decide whether her assumed destiny or the unknown is the path she will follow. Then she finds herself in the company of Uhtred and his men, farther from home than she'd ever dreamed. I do not own any rights or have any financial interest in the characters originally written in The Last Kingdom, nor any artwork shared within. Cross-posted from AO3

The Last Kingdom Fanfiction Continuing where Wolf-Heart left off, at Season 2, episode 5. Finan and Faoladhean navigate parenthood while serving under Uhtred's command as the peace in Wessex comes to an end. This story will continue through the several-year period between the end of s2 and start of s3. If you are new here, please go back to Wolf-Heart and start there - everything will make much more sense that way. REMINDER/DISCLAIMER: Very little is actually known about the Picts and their beliefs, language, etc. There are a lot of educated guesses and suppositions, and I have attempted to incorporate as much fact as I have been able to find in my hours of research. THAT SAID... I have definitely taken a lot of creative liberties with my creation of my Pictish OC(s). Also, I realize that modern Irish language is called "Irish," not Gaelic, and is very definitely a separate language from Scots Gaelic. However, from what little I have been able to find in my research, it is likely that circa 900 c.e., the Irish and Albans/Scots (and the few remaining Picts) spoke a version of Old Gaelic that was similar enough to be understood between the two. So when I reference anyone speaking Gaelic (vs Irish), it is with that in mind. Basically - don't come for me if it's all too fantastical. This is fanfic, it's supposed to be fantasy!
