Fear.
A four letter word.
It's simple really, it only works if you let it, and it only controls you if you choose to be so vulnerable.
But the word, and the concept are two very different things because see, it seems simple; It's not.
Fear can crumple a person, into a small fragment of what they once were, a hollow shell if you will. It leaves them breathless, wide eyed and riddled with goosebumps at what could possibly happen next. Like when you sit through a scary movie and the person next to you jumps just to send chills down your spine. Chills that never quite go away. Always creeping up on you, always there behind you, waiting for the best moment, or worst, to attack your whole body.
Fear changed me. But-
Not only did it change me.
It ruined me.
I guess people can do that.
Fear was a person in this specific case, and fear was brutal, never ending, and absolutely gut wrenching.
He was fear.
