Mostly because Dan took out his horrid home life on the people at school and Phil happened to be an easy target. But when things take a turn for the worse in both of their lives, they're forced to get to know each other better and discover things about themselves they never guessed.

Dan Howell, the school 'nerd'. Yeah, that's the clique he has been put into. He's shy, has a passion for theatre, loves to draw, wears flower crowns, button up shirts, and pastel sweaters. The popular group bullying him constantly, pulling flowers out his flowers crowns, crumbling his drawings, physically harming him, calling him names, and taking any and every moment to call him out about his feminine appearance. He hasn't had many friends except for his best and only friend, Pj. He hasn't had much luck in his life but will something or someone turn that around? Phil Lester, the school punk. He is the kind of person parents fear their child dating. Piercings, tattoos, but what no one suspects is his soft personality. No one really cares to get to know him due to 'status quo'. He doesn't mix in with the popular crowd that is constantly bullying Dan. He's more of a loner, but still playfully teases Dan time from time. After Dan and Phil do the Tumblr Tag video Dan has been having a recurring dream, turning into Pepe. What happens when this dream slowly begins to become a reality? Will he be able to fix himself before it's too late?

Dan wasn't like any other 16-year-old boy. He liked flowers and pink things. Big deal? Clearly it was to those around him. He was different, that was why they hated him. Phil was like most 16-year-old boys, just not like the ones at his school. Being raised in a nasty neighbourhood meant the piercings and dyed hair were also seen as different. If you weren't rich, you were a mistake. When these two outcasts meet, they'll change each other's lives forever. They just need to learn to let each other in.
