In the Kingdom of Aurelia there is a tradition that spans back a thousand years in which the heir to the throne has to pick his wife through the Choosing Ceremony. Scouts are sent all across the country to handpick one hundred of the most beautiful, intelligent, and poised women to get the chance to become Queen and marry the Prince. Eleanor could have never perceived that she would be chosen. Ever since then her life has changed for the better but also for the worse. She is sent to the Capitol to live in the beautiful palace and be showered in beautiful gowns, jewels, and anything she could ever want. However behind this beautiful facade is something much more malicious. The palace is rife with intrigue, drama, and backstabbing (sometimes in the literal form) and Eleanor has to decide who are her friends and who are only there to get something from her. Prince Andres is dashingly handsome and everything that a prince should be except when it comes to making decisions. Can Eleanor win him over? Does she even want to?

Sequel to Better Off Alone • Macey Littlefield has only ever wanted to get away. And now, she finally has the chance. But it will mean leaving behind her last summer with her friends and stepping into a commitment even bigger than she realizes. She meets new people and realizes that the publishing world and the City aren't for everyone. Maybe not even her. ••• "What do you want?" I ask, cautious. He's still smirking. "Are you... jealous?" The laughter peals from within me, unable to remain kept in. "Jealous!? Please! I am not even the slightest of attracted to you." Mr. Fancy British Man smirks again and leans in very close to me. I feel my eyes involuntarily take in his handsome features: the sun kissed skin, the line of stubble, the smirking lips, the pair of dimples, the light brown hair, and finally, the hazel eyes. It would be ten times easier to resist him if he was physically unattractive. "Still not attracted to me?" He growls sexily, his breath fresh and warm on my face. I stare him back. "Not. At. All."
