Peeta's POV of the reaping for the 74th Hunger Games.

Cinder Mellark didn't know what happened to her mother. She heard whispers as she walked by, talks of birds and whispers of revolution. Everyone seemed to know her name and stared at her wherever she went. Cinder didn't know what happened to her mother, all she knew was that she was gone, and her and her brother Rye were oblivious as to what happened to her. This is Cinder's reality: Her father cries most nights, and spends most days in the empty house next door to theirs. When the world is too much, she writes letters to her mother, in the hope that when she comes back, she can read them and catch up. They trudge to the main square each year, for the reaping. The poor mine coal and starve to death without the bat of an eyelid from the Capitol. There is rubble that surrounds the streets and she doesn't know why. Her father loves her and Rye but she can see he's hurting. He whispers things under his breath. Whispers words like 'Revolution.'

Annie Cresta is a young girl from district 4. Her father works for the Capitol, working out how many entries the children of his district get in their reaping bowl. Her name is only in there a few times, it seems the odds are in her favour, but are they really? She meets a young boy she knows all too well, Finnick Odair, the Capitol darling, she's heard the rumours. When her world is thrown upside down, he seems to be the only constant, but then there's also Hudson, her fellow tribute... //I'm going to be trying to keep this story as closely linked to The Hunger Games of possible, and stay true to Annie's story//
