She and the vice commander of the Shinsengumi, Toshiro Hijikata, were about to go on their first date, but Toshiro ended up getting his head (somewhat) busted open resulting in memory loss for the past five months. He met Kumiko four months ago. Even though he doesn't have the slightest idea or interest of who she is, that doesn't stop Kumiko from trying to make him fall in love with her.
