What if we were the first in our part of the galaxy to discover the secret of faster than light travel? What if this discovery was 10,000 years before it was supposed to be? Our neighbors had been watching for centuries and were surprised with our early arrival into the Web of Worlds... The Year is 2166: To the people of Earth, the universe seemed to be a very lonely place. Astronomers have discovered tens of thousands of planets; many had indications of organic life. SETI had been searching for signals for over 200 years. There had been a few tantalizing bits of radio or radar energy received but nothing ever proven to be of intelligent origin. But there was an alien civilization out there, in fact many of them linked together in a Web of Worlds. They were watching us quietly, carefully and patiently. It had long been the prime directive of the Web that no developing civilization be contacted until that civilization made it into interstellar space on their own; and that always took time, lots of time. Most Web worlds took 1,000 years or more to go from steam to the atom and none had made it from the atom to a sublight stardrive in less than 5,000 standard years. Every civilization of The Web had proven that faster than light travel was impossible, so there was plenty of time to watch the Earth... The watchers were astounded with the speed of progress of human science and also horrified at the periods of violence. By 2076 nuclear fusion power was widespread on earth. By 2100 the first interplanetary fusion ships explored the Sol system. The men and women of the Anglosphere Alliance began their first missions in ships approaching 0.1c. At that velocity, manned flight to even the nearest stars would take a lifetime. What would happen if a beautiful engineer and a brilliant physicist stumbled upon an artificial gravity field which would make a faster than light drive possible... Updates: 2 chapters every week ------------------------------------------------------------ The world is perfect. Or so they say. Life is carefully controlled on a day to day basis under the eye of the omnipotent Premier, who presides over the Structure. Every aspect of the precious human race from birth to death is planned. The society has only one goal in mind: to design a flawless race of humans. Every three years, everyone goes through the “Ascension”, a test of mental dexterity in order to weed out those with flawed genes. Those who fail to pass the Ascension are permanently removed from the gene pool and are never heard from again. Through the use of eugenics, each person is assigned a life-long Counterpart, a person that would help produce the most genetically diverse offspring. Those who lose their Counterparts through unfortunate circumstance are labeled “barren” and forced to the bottom rung of the social ladder. Problems arise when Chroma, a girl who had been barren most of her life, develops feelings for her best friend Fledge. The moment she realizes these feelings, everything falls apart. All odds are against her tabooed relations with Fledge. Every moment becomes a struggle between life and death, between sanity and insanity. Chroma will have to fight tooth and limb if she expects to survive to the next Ascension. ------------------------------------------------------------ Note: The original cover image was a picture taken by j0s2m21 on DeviantArt. As far as they know, Nineteen and Sixteen are the only ones that are immune to the Virus, which has taken over the world for over a few years now. The deadly disease has turned every human being mad, leaving them with no memory of their past lives and their bodies rotting, also making them go insane every single day until they die. The two sisters go from house to house seeking protection from these grotesque creatures as they come out at night looking for something to eat. That is, until one day they go and find an almost- perfect house that happened to be a trap. Now, a new set of people are trying to hunt them down, but they aren't like Nineteen and Sixteen either. Once Nineteen and Sixteen are captured, they are taken to where this place is known as the Prison where a man only identified as the Warden rules the whole entire society he's created. Soon, the sisters find out that they aren't the only ones that are immune to the Virus. There at the Prison, they meet people that are just like them in every way. Just like Nineteen and Sixteen have numbers that are engraved on their wrist since birth, so do these people, too. And it looks like the Warden is keeping them hostage for a reason. A rebellion is about to begin as these unordinary people being kept at the Prison fight against the Warden. Will Nineteen, Sixteen, and the rest of them break free? Will they win a war that will decide the fate of mankind? Read to find out more :) Love, humor, etc. is all balanced out. Also, it might get a little bloody and gore-y at some points :D!!

Drade is just a villager manning a merchant table with his father Aren until two mysterious swordsmen come to town. They claim they are to take him and the other young men with them in their caged wagon. After a brutal sword fight helped with a magic potion Drade must fulfill a promise to his father and journey north to the farm of his grandparents. Along the way he meets many colorful characters. Some he helps and others help him on his quest to reach his grandparent's farm before the villains he fought get there first. There's no way he'll be able to take them on again without a lot of help. The book is done. I'm going to post a new chapter every 3 days and always on Friday afternoons as a little bonus to make it go faster. This book has now been through @DanaScully's edits, had the feedback of several beta readers applied to it, and a few last polishing passes of my own. I'd love to know what you think.
