Sam and Dean have never met anyone as unique as Castiel. The kid wearing a trench coat in the middle of summer introduced himself the day they moved in, and all three of them became instant friends. Then Dean and Cas start spending a lot of time together and Sam finds himself excluded. He doesn't blame Dean at first; it must be hard being fifteen and never setting down roots long enough to make lasting friendships. But as time goes on and he sees less of Dean and Cas, Sam realizes it's even harder being eleven. Originally written on September 16, 2010 for the Secret Angels IV fic exchange, for recipient "writingpathways." I combined two requested prompts -- AU where there is no supernatural and Dean/Cas have been best friends forever, and Sam POV of the evolution of Dean and Castiel's relationship.

It's 1995, and Castiel's high school years are destined to be difficult: home-schooled until eighth grade, he is awkward, shy, and socially inept. The weird kid with the funny name would rather isolate himself and draw in his sketchbook than deal with the constant bullying he faces every day. Things only get worse in his junior year when he excels in home economics class, leading the captain of the baseball team, Alastair, to start taunting him for being gay. Then new student Dean Winchester arrives at Flour Bluff High School, sharing many of Castiel's classes. Castiel has seen his type before -- handsome, athletic, arrogant, and sure to be the most popular kid in school. But Castiel eventually learns that he and Dean have more in common than he thought, and they form an unlikely friendship. The Winchester's are mysteriously zapped into London, the Doctor and Donna are left stranded in London after a mysterious fault with the TARDIS and and they all happed to end up on the door of London's favourite (and only) consulting detective and blogger. Obviously it is all just a huge coincidence... but what do we say about coincidences? The universe is rarely so lazy..... Supernatural, Sherlock and Dr Who combine to create Superwholock (you should already know that (if you don't you obviously don't have tumblr)) Adventure with the Doctor and Donna, whist solving crimes with Sherlock and John and hunting with the Winchesters. ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Personalities may clash and opinions may be disputed. However the common conclusion is that at the end of the day, they make a pretty amazing team. This story isn't based around any particular seasons (eg. I chose to write about the 10th Doctor and Donna, even though they aren't from the latest series) so there may be some things I include and some things I chose not to. However each one of them would go home, get out their laptop, and either write or read. Gabriel happens upon the amazing fic of one of his fans, which strikes up a conversation between the two. Dean reads the saddest fic in the fandom and realizes the writer didn't actually get much direct credit. So decides to talk to them about it. And so the online ties that connect them begin...

AU with Mute Sam, Background Destiel and Michifer Gabriel Novak, just your every day person just out of college. Works at a fandom shop with his best friend Charlie and has too many siblings. Sam Winchester, a college student, and kinda a complete nerd. Seemingly normal, other than the fact that he doesn't talk. Selective mutism, he doesn't like talking to anyone other than his brother. Sam and Gabriel cross paths, and somewhat end up dating after not long. The only problem is communication between them. Sam can't speak to Gabriel...unless it's quoting fandoms.
