Nightingale has always been overshadowed by her 'best friend' Misty. Misty's obsessed with getting into the Academy and becoming one of the Royals, but things don't quite got to Misty's plan as Nightingale is the one who is chosen. For Nightingale, the Academy isn't such a dream that Misty's always told her it is. While it's played up to be the best life any teenager could wish for, it's hard to believe when your Academy partner hates you. Robin, son of the Ruling Royals, seems to loathe Nightingale from the first moment he set his eyes on her and adheres to a certain hostility. But first impressions don't always tell the whole story, and Robin seems to have more on his agenda- especially concerning Nightingale's new friend, Meraella... Figuring out who to trust has never quite been this difficult. When past meets present, a dark force threatens the peace of the Academy and Nightingale must piece together the puzzle of the Academy's history before it's too late. After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is today’s leading master of what Tolkien called “secondary creation,” the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own. Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the God King one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn’t like his job, and the immortal who’s still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago. Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren’s capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can only be collected one unit at a time from individual people. By using breath and drawing upon the color in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron the God King; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery, and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

Hate. Contempt. The only emotions Murphy O'Neill is capable of. Hate for Elijah, the Werewolf who brutally and savagely killed his mate. Contempt for the Alliance, who allowed the murderer to escape. A string of gruesome slayings in Boston points to Elijah's return, and Murphy is determined to track him down and make him pay for destroying his life. The one thing stopping him? A mouthy, opinionated FBI agent who just can't be told to mind her own business. Twenty years ago, the Boston Wolf Killer suddenly disappeared without a trace. The killings stopped and the city began to breathe again. Kaitlyn Quinn's father, a detective with the Boston PD, was the last victim before the police and FBI lost all trace. Special Agent Quinn has been assigned to the FBI's task force to track this killer down. For Kaitlyn, it's personal. She intends to bring her father's killer to justice no matter the cost. Even if it means teaming up with an ice cold, emotionless FBI Profiler. Everything is not as it seems, and Kaitlyn is thrust into a world she didn't know existed. To catch the psychotic killer, Kaitlyn and Murphy must put aside their animosity and navigate the thin line the separates their two worlds. ** Buried is the second book in the MASKED series **

"Don't move." His husky voice spoke below a whisper, my shoulders pressed against his muscular chest. I relaxed, feeling the small flutter of his wings as I reached out to stroke the long tempting feathers. His wings extended, slowly wrapping themselves around my body. "What are you doing?" I'd drop my arms to my side, with sudden realization. He chuckled lowly, leaning forward to place his face close to mine. His lips were dangerously close. "Protecting you." ********************* It is said that God's most precious and trusted creatures are the angels. They are guided by Him, and they obey His orders. They keep the mortals safe. There is eventually one accomplishment they seek to achieve for the human race. Purity. It is said that some turned away from Him, following Lucifer down to Earth and Hell, where they were banned from Heaven. The Fallen. Their wings black as night; their hearts even darker. It is said their dark possessed hearts can never be cured. Their strive for rebellion, death, torture, and power can never be taken away from them. Was I the only one to prove them wrong? ----------------------- HIGHEST RANKINGS: #8 in Paranormal

Heroes. Ever since they showed up, people have gone soft. They're adored, worshipped. Devotion is showered upon them like rain. It's about time someone knocks them off that pedestal they stand on, someone to crush their pillars of faith. Someone like me. A villain. It's perfect. I'll be the undoing of heroes. ≠ disclaimer: very much needs to be edited, very much needs to be less corny and very much needs to be entirely rewritten by me. if you approach it as a goofy, corny, old 2015-esque superhero book then it'll be a great time. i'll be honest and say there are no pulitzers here. completed ✓ highest rank in sf: #9 cover: @narwhelly
