"I told you, I had no choice." Slowly, my words started coming back to me, my head starting to clear. "Oh no." I shook my head in warning.
"You had a choice. You just made the wrong one. And that is going to cost you, a lot." A new rage seemed to find me, devour me whole.
I held my left hand up and violently tugged at my ring finger, throwing the rings onto the glass mirror, harshly, until they landed, broken, in a small pile, in the trash can. The mirror cracked loudly, and I saw our reflection in the cracked mirror. Just what our marriage was. I smiled, cynically, and then looked at him one last time, before walking out.
