"Please don't let my knees buckle," the young boy pleaded, his voice strained as he continued to run. There was no other sound around him, except for the pounding of his feet on the ground which echoed the beating of his heart that he felt would give way any second. It was uncanny to not have any other sound from the trees that passed like a blur as he continued to run. The way was darkened by the shadows of the woods that profusely grew behind the school, yet, he knew the way like the back of his hand. He continued. The bright light of the moon was beckoning at him like a beacon. A sudden sinister hiss sounded a few feet away. And the boy pushed himself forward with the last of his strength. He was nearing the edge of the cliff. Heart beating like drums, body drenched in sweat, and his eyes strained from crying in the fear of what was after him, he jumped.
