There were not many things that I knew much about but pain... Pain I knew. I understood it and its various types. Emotional pain as time dragged by, physical pain I felt when my mate had sex with another woman, when different men had come, nightly beatings, mental pain when he played tricks, when I realized no one from my pack was looking for me. Worse pain... knowing that I was here paying for another person's actions and my children were paying too. Yeah... I knew pain.

"Had a nice swim?" He asks, a smirk on his face. I could literally slap him right now. "Bitch, you pushed me," I say breathlessly, my body shaking from the cold water. He just looks amused, as he takes a step closer to me. "Language," he says, his voice almost a whisper, "there's children here." ••• Opal Rodriguez, the girl who's just trying to get through high school like the rest of us. Until Nathan Adams moved to the house right in front of hers, basically becoming a part of her life. With him, he brought his smirk, his cocky attitude, his hoe magnet, and a cute little sister. She wanted a relaxing day at the pool. He kind of ruined it. What was just a dare, grew into a strange friendship between these two. Maybe even more than that. I wasn't different; I was like every other teenage girl at school. I didn't resist the bad boy, the bad-boy didn't resist me. We fell for each other—just like every other bad boy and good girl cliche. But, the thing was, I wasn't necessarily a good girl and he wasn't necessarily a bad boy. We disagreed (and thoroughly) when acknowledging different subjects, that was for sure, but we weren't exactly polar opposites.

Sometimes, every girl needs that one special person to make her feel like a princess... As for me, it all started with a list. No, not a hit list. A princess expectation list. Sounds high maintenance, I know. But little did I know that one silly list sparked so many eventful and interesting things throughout my last two months of high school.
