A heart needs both halves to work properly and live peacefully. While Thorin and Violet lie a world away from each-other, desperately trying to regain the other. When Violet become worried and anxious when hearing news of Thorin during a party being held in the shire, she sets out to find him, while Thorin himself has set out to find her. On their journeys they are met with old friends as well as new ones...some will help them...and some will try to stop them.

This story is set before Smaug attacked. Alice is a human girl though with her short height she is often mistaken for a hobbit. She is 16 years of age. She lives in the city if Dale with her mother. Her mother is a servant to King Throrr and the royal family. Alice often goes to help her mother do her daily work. Her life goes on normaly until she finally meets Thorin Oakenshield.

Gandalf promised to help the dwarves reclaim their homeland...what he didn't tell them was he was being along his apprentice Salacia. However...she manages to capture not only the heart of Thorin, but the hearts of Fili and Kili as well.

Dwarves are known to be loud and rambunctious...however Violet is timid, shy and quiet, Bilbos neighbor with a thick shell, however she has one skill the dwarves intensely admire...she is an astonishing fighter. This is something they could use on their journey. Also, the skill that happens to catch the eye of a certain king.

Melody is just a tiny hobbit who is a good friend of Bilbos. Though she is small she goes through big changes and....she manages to leave a big mark on Thorin oakenshields heart.

Melody Claw is the last remaining member of the Faerie race. They have been wiped out so long they are nothing but a myth to the people of middle-earth. Fairies are smaller than hobbits, but gain height back by flying and floating constantly. They are extremely powerful beings, much more than wizards. They have hidden powers and talents, though Melody's small and fragile appearance causes Thorins doubts...and interest.

Before Smaug attacked Erabor, Thorin had a steady life, also a lover. However his lover was secret given her Elvish bloodline. After Smaug attacked they where separated, little did Thorin know that along with losing his love, he lost his child....until said child finds out who he really is. She and her friends decide to follow the company on their adventure to reclaim Erabor.

Lyla Baggins, a respectable hobbit, with a Tookish streak, agrees to follow a group of dwarves far to the East, over ranges and rivers, to reclaim their homeland. Her mission is simple: defeat a dragon and convince the leader of the company, Thorin Oakenshield, to trust her. That may prove difficult, though, since he doesn't even know that she's a girl.
