Some friends are more friendly than others, and some friends are absolutely unwilling to let any kind of friendship stand in the way of business. When the city is no longer big enough for them both, something needs to be done. This is another short story from the world of Rogue Sorcery, the first novel of my fantasy duology which is still a work in progress. The story was originally published on my deviantART account, but has been heavily revised since then.

Tricks come in many flavours. Some are funny and innocent; others are cruel, and yet others are dangerous. And those too dangerous to try, they linger at the back of your mind, ever more tempting, until you finally cannot resist anymore. One day someone learns a trick that makes you look dead - so much that you can fool any doctor. For the right kind of people: an easy way to get out of jail. But something that seems too good to be true often ends up being exactly that, and such a trick is never what it seems.
