"Fate is tricky and her time is limited. She can love without reason, and forgive without thought - that is her curse and her gift. Be that as it may, the wolf will remain by Red Riding Hood's side for all eternity, for she is a lady, and he, a monster." - Aleksandra Volkov. Van Volkov was born with a curse, a demon that lives inside of his mind, and a promise to protect. Having lived his entire life for the sake of others, he has created a steel wall that surrounds himself - impenetrable, just like his heart. Revered as a God by humans and a murderer by his own kind, he lives in secrecy, letting few humans know that he is one of four pure lycan's left in the humans world. That all changes when he rescues a human child after her family are killed by rogue shifters. Vowing never to acknowledge her existence or his rare act of kindness, he struggles with the fact that she could be the key to breaking down his steel walls and unlocking his buried humanity. But how do you find your humanity when you're not really human at all? Aira Blight was six years old when she witnessed her entire family's death. Taken in by a doctor and his kind wife, Aira slowly but surely recovers from the trauma. As she grows, Aira is supported financially and academically by a supposed stranger, but she knows her saviour is watching over her, and her one wish is to help her cold and angry hero feel compassion and love - the same sort of compassion and love he has shown Aira her entire life - although he may not know it. ----- Published December 15th, 2016. It's horrible to don a mask. Most wear some kind of mask in their life--and for the most part, they're never of the best quality. All they cause is useless self-destruction and pain, but the good thing about them is that they can hide some ugly part of you that you don't want to show to the world. They're always a step down from what you think they'd be, always a notch lower than expectations, and always a lie to hide from the reality around us. ...of course, there are those that can see through those masks too, and it's supposed that Arceus created these humans to keep the world's sanity. That's all Avis wishes for, because it's nearly impossible to find any semblance of peace in this midst of war and chaos. To him, that's staying alone; staying out of others' business, and for the first seventeen years of his life, he's done that pretty well. § Avis can only hide in the shadow of his twin brother's strength, stranded in a country ravaged by war and destruction--and he tries to live his life in the darkness peacefully. He doesn't need to be noticed by everyone. The illusion of a functional, ideal life, however, is shattered when his family's balance is destroyed, and he thus dons his first mask. § For all his life, Avis had been taught that disaster was bad. For the most part, he's believed that much--he only needs to think of ungraceful piles of debris and blood-caked grounds to be convinced of that. At eighteen, he finds himself starting to doubt it--just a little. He can hate disaster for tearing his life to pieces, but he can't quite hate it for granting him something better than a miracle. § Tonight, these children don their masks.

The Superiors pay an annual visit to the top schools in the nation and evaluate the students, choosing one boy and one girl - the most Popular in the school - to go the Capitol and train for Superiority. Delaney thinks that she's the only one indifferent to (and perhaps even suspicious of) the Superiors, until Caleb Payne, the most popular boy in school, approaches her with a request. He has a task for her, one that he believes she is uniquely capable of completing. Earth in the year 2018 was evolving, becoming a dangerous place for the human population, and technology was the last answer. But what they had to do was to let go of a piece of their humanity. They had to replace their body parts with better, modern ones. Fake ones. And if all else failed, and Earth would become a complete hazard to mankind, the Carriers were there. A whole new artificial world in space. The days went by and construction proceeded. At the moment, people began to have faith in themselves. Then the outbreak happened. They walked like they were the living dead, artificial arms and legs still twitching and sparking. They fed on each other and everyone else who wasn't infected yet. They had their brains, but not their thoughts. They became a part of the new Earth. "We have no time for anymore disagreements or a plan B. Because every day, every second, our home is turning into something unknown." [Copyright Alec DR. 2016| All Rights Reserved]
