It's Halloween night and Patrick Stump is at some costume party that his friends dragged him to. After an hour of being pushed around in a crowd of drunk and sweaty teens in slutty costumes Patrick decides to go somewhere quiet. Pete is put in charge of the family business when his father becomes ill. He runs a tight ship but only because it was his father's wish. What he really wants is the FBI agent who practically fell into his lap.

Patrick knows there's something under his bed. He's known since he was four. His parents knew nothing about the mysterious monster under his bed. Mr. Sandman sings the boy to sleep every night, and constantly talks to Patrick. When the boy turns 17, Mr. Sandman is all he has. His parents have neglected him, and he's bullied at school on a daily basis. Finally, Mr. Sandman decides it's time to comfort Patrick.

It all started that night on stage. Our boss told me to get the crowd exited. Well, he was a bit more specific than that. But no matter how embarrassing that was, it was worth it, because Pete came to me afterwards.

Patrick is the new kid at Winona High, and he doesn't quite know how to fit in. Dropping by a dance party held by the "in crowd" (as the popular kids call themselves), Patrick is incredibly uncomfortable, but the kid called Pete Wentz catches his eye. Throughout the year, Patrick hopes to find friends, and maybe more than being "just friends" with a certain someone. Two quarters and a heart down, 'Trick isn't a joke of a romantic...after all, one night can change it all.
