Many cats did not survive, and those that did are weak and wounded. With no foliage, prey is scarce, and even the cats that remain prove to be more than the territories and surrounding lands can support. Cats are starving and dying, and the Clans fight among themselves and each other for what little prey and territory is left unscathed. In the midst of it all, an ominous prophecy rings in Redwing's mind, and his nightmares grow ever darker with each drop of blood spilled. Meanwhile, Blackkit and Whitekit's father, Nightmist, has an evil scheme planned. Whitekit will discover the darkness inside the ones he loved and who he truly is: a miracle from darkness.

Prophecies are works about journeys and saving clans via StarClan's designated cats. StarClan can't predict everything though, right? Sparkfur is hated by much of her clan. She's much more intelligent than any other cat, she's sassy, and an annoyance. They have half a mind to kick her out, but at the same time, they would never put the deputy's sister in the dangers of being a loner. That's the difference about DrizzleClan and its fellow bordering clans: the rogues are savages that will murder any lone cat in cold blood if they don't join up with the growing Rogue band. So no blunt prophecy from the heavens, but we do have Sparkfur and her tense-relationship with her brother Berryfoot to stop the massacres.
