I am a black woman and for as long as I know I have been a writer and a poet. When life gave me troubles I wrote. And for just as long I have been a poet that writes with darker connotation. My friends and family called me the Black Edgar Allan Poe and while it was a fun joke most chose to look over that what I wrote stemmed from my own pain and experience and nothing else. Now while I have grown and created depth within myself as a writer, I never stray too far from my roots.
