Yandere is a Japanese term for a person who is initially very loving and gentle to someone (or at least innocent) before their devotion becomes destructive in nature, often through violence and/or brutality. At school Mizuki is a newling in a secured group. Newlings are not allowed to be by themselves for others, known as viruses will kill them. Ryuu is the one in charge of keeping her safe, but is not the leader himself. Since Mizuki is constantly near him, she grows a crush on him, but does not really show it towards him. She wants to be with him, and thinks of the ways she could.
