Twenty-four-year-old Benson Boone already has his life mapped out.
Graduate college. Spend one summer in Arizona helping his parents. Then get back in the RV he built with his dad and start the fifty-state road trip he's been planning for years.
What he doesn't plan for is Zayn Malik.
Thirty-three, British, tattooed, frustratingly private, and the local handyman Benson probably shouldn't be looking at as much as he does.
One night turns into an anonymous hookup neither of them is supposed to take seriously. Then it happens again. And again.
Soon there are early mornings at the lake, rides in Zayn's truck, clothes left behind, family dinners, jealousy neither man wants to admit to, and a relationship becoming increasingly difficult to explain away.
Because behind closed doors, Benson and Zayn can be almost anything.
Outside of them?
They're friends.
At least, that's what they're supposed to say.
But Benson's parents are hiding problems of their own, Zayn has pieces of his past he refuses to talk about, and the longer Benson stays in Arizona, the harder it becomes to separate the life he's been pretending to want from the one he actually does.
For the first time, Benson isn't just sleeping with a man.
He's falling in love with one.
And eventually, "we're just friends" might become the biggest lie either of them has told.
