Eden has never seen a zoo before. In her world, zoos don't exist. The Anthros do. Anthros are 'human zoos' created by the machines that have taken over Earth, pushing humans into being critically endangered. Humans are hunted for their desirable qualities and put behind the 20mm thick glass for other cybernetic organisms to view and study. Behind the walls, though, humans deemed "imperfect" are tortured and subject to nightmarish medical experiments. Eden is a runner-- an individual given the task of going above ground and retrieving materials necessary for the free humans to survive. Together, she and her best friend Linux are experts at their job and have raided countless warehouses. When one botched supply run lands them in the hands of the cybernetics, Eden makes an easy decision: save Linux and sacrifice herself. This leads to her becoming a prisoner and lab rat to the machines, and she will be forced to undergo horrors she never dreamed of. Saving herself will be the hardest thing she's ever done. When your life consists of running from one hiding place to another, dodging being captured, and living in fear of the grinding of machinery, freedom is just a state of mind.

"Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it ceases to exist. I believe in many invisible things- ghosts, Bigfoot, unicorns. Mainly, though, I believe in myself- the girl hidden within the pale blue walls of this five-room, two story building under the unnerving fluorescent lights. I'm the girl no one has ever seen. But I exist. Don't I?" Compound 4 was burned to the ground. Compound 5 was liberated. Compounds 2 and 3 wait patiently for Jay and Isaac to arrive with the vaccine that has been created to protect what's left of the human race from The Virus that nearly wiped them out fifteen years ago. That leaves Compound 1, nestled in the deep woods of the northern United States. The warning they sent to Jay's supporters was clear: stay away. But Jay's never been good at following directions. Outside Compound 1, a laboratory exists. The bottom floor is a home; the upper floor is anything but. Mya Julien's life consists of needles, machines, tests and sickness. Being immune comes with a price, and when a dark-haired stranger crashes unwillingly into their life, she and her brother Finn discover a haunting truth. No one can miss you, if no one knows you exist. This is the last installment in the Immune series. Be sure to check out book one (Immune) and book two (Selected) before reading.

"As far back as I can remember, I've been surrounded by water. The salt in the air even now makes it hard to breath, forcing me to squint. Sand clings to every inch of me, caking my pants and shoes. The wind from the ocean picks my hair up, sending it blowing back towards the multi-colored houses lining the shore line. *** 'Quinn, don't panic,' Lexi says through gritted teeth. She holds fistfuls of my shirt now, and I hear the rubber soles of her shoes squeaking. 'Too late,' I whine, grabbing the barbed wire in a last desperate effort to regain some balance. The razor sharp blades cut into my palms, making me jump again. Lexi sucks in air and loses her grip on me. I hold my breath and close my eyes, feeling the wind cradle me from all sides as I fall at about twenty-four miles per hour, considering the height of the wall and my weight. Now, I wish I was surrounded by water." South of Compound 4, another compound exists. Within the wall of Compound 5, children are trained and tested for perfection through the Intelligence Exam, a test that every student takes during their sixteenth year. Pass, and you stay within the compound. Fail, and you are sent to another compound. It's common knowledge that they are building a perfect population to remain when the rest of the world falls to the Virus. Yet, what happens when Quinn faces the threat of Compound 5, a short blonde girl whose name he can't pronounce, and begins to question everything he's ever been taught, pushing the limits of the system and his own comfort zone? When a student receives the compound's first ever perfect IE score, a storm makes its way in from the ocean. Can Q unravel the secrets held within the walls, or will he lead his family and friends to a war they can't win against a woman who seems to be triumphing against all odds? Selected is the sequel to Immune, found on my profile. Record Ranking: #25 in Science Fiction

*THE UNEDITED VERSION* Beware of typos, errors, and general mistakes. This is a very, very rough draft. "I live in a place called Compound 4. We are one of ten different compounds placed at strategic locations around the US. It's been thirteen years since the virus overtook humanity, turning about ninety percent of us into zombies. I'm not sure how it started exactly; that's classified information. I do know that in order to save what was left of the human race, the president at the time took a bunch of really smart people and kids and relocated them into new 'protected' cities. My father was one of those really smart people. I was only five at the time, but I knew what was happening." Within the walls of the compound, Jay makes stupid mistakes, mistakes even she doesn't understand, putting everyone inside at risk. All because she can't shoot someone. All because she misses the wind in her hair, the flowers on the hillsides, the sound of crickets at night. All because she's different, the only person untouchable by the Virus. When the mistakes begin to duplicate, and a girl shows up who knows her name, everything begins to change in Compound 4. Highest rank in Science Fiction: #9

I want to be more than what they say I am. "We were told that in the early days of implementing the Motherhood project there were protests. ... but when I look at my own mother, I can't help but feel that some of them were relieved. They just handed over their kid, like a pair of car keys, and told the State to make sure it didn't get scratched." In seventeen year old Cameron Bree's world, parents are not allowed to raise their children for fear they'll do it wrong. To further ensure these children grow up to be model citizens, the State conducts regular personality tests to determine if they are innately good or innately evil. But what does it mean when you can cheat the test? The life before 564 became Amelia Reyes is a gruesome one; a story that she could not and would not tell to many people. She had been labeled at a young age by three small numbers tattooed on her wrist. She had been taught to fight for her life and show no mercy. She had been used as an example to others and her bravery gained only hatred from her owners. But it only caused an admiration to be built in the hearts of her friends in the orphanage. The falls she took for all of them only raised her into a hero. She was a legend, a savior, and was respected greatly among the children who resided there. Until the day she was forced to abandon them- the day her heart broke and the day she no longer considered herself a hero. 564; Amelia Reyes; the girl with the numbers on her wrist and the scars on her back. ______________________________________________________________________ © 2015-2016 Katherine Hinchley (Wattpad user -MidnightStories-) All Right Reserved. Book 2 in the Burning Series: the sequel to Dust. The world is changing. There used to be men, and there used to be monsters. The line between the two is blurred now. Long ago, the earth spun in a constant cycle. There was life. There was hope. It is no longer such. Humanity cowers beneath glass domes in the midst of the desert, afraid of radiation that no longer pollutes the air. But there are darker things hiding in the wilderness now. Wild things. Cursed things. Burning things. Yet, not all is lost. Ashes, ashes. We all fall down sometimes. But what happens when you can't stand again?
