In the aftermath of catastrophe, a sole survivor from his flock must try to put down roots elsewhere. He finds he cannot hide from the inhabitants of this unfamiliar area for long. When one such person finds him, an unlikely bond is created.

I stared at the TV, my eyes unable to move or blink. I knew what I saw, the world knew. On the screen the news showed a boy falling from an airplane with a lady. On his back there was a parachute but the boy appeared to be having difficulty getting open. Then... Huge wings unfolded from his back and he and the lady glided down. My heart skipped a beat. I was plummeting towards the ground of New York City from an altitude that only fighter jets use, and I couldn't do anything about it. Who would've thought that I, Maximum Ride, would die from something that wasn't supposed to be able to kill me. My wings had a clamp on them keeping me from flying, and my hands were bound in front of me. I was so beat up that I couldn't even move. I couldn't struggle to get my wings free let alone fly. I was about to die. After twenty-two years of surviving what the universe had to throw at me, I was going to die. As I closed my eyes and accepted my fate, I was snatched out of the air by something big, muscular, and green. Hulk. After a couple of long seconds of free fall, he threw me at something. I landed on something soft and fluffy, like a mattress. My head turned to the side and I could barely make out the S.H.I.E.L.D logo as I sunk into darkness.

Hana thought she was an ordinary human living on Earth. That is, until a boy a little older the she told her that she was actually a princess from a planet known as Galbia. Galbia is a planet on the farthest side of the universe, a planet once filled with brightness, now lays destroyed by darkness. The aliens responsible for Galbia, as well as many other planets, are known as the Hakai. They are a brutal force that will stop at nothing until the entire universe is theirs. The hateful nation developed a system for ensuring that no bird-creatures would secretly try to live in their human only society. They called it process and if found guilty by vote, the answer is death.
